So I posted about 7 months ago with my "First Build" sadly the funding fell through

and I couldn't afford to get a PC, so here I am again hoping for some help with my build

Max Budget 1000 USD (May be pushed a little if parts can be justified)

United States - Oregon.

No Prefered Retailer.

Parts only, don't worry about OS

No Optical, I have a 16GB flash drive for whenever I Install an OS

GPU Not Selected yet, could use help with that. (Maybe a normal 780?)

Already using a Vizio 1080P TV as a monitor (1920x1080), not in the budget to get an actual monitor

Already have peripherals.

What I will be using it for, I plan on going to college so I can get into game development and in the meantime I will be creating mods for Fallout/Skyrim

I'll be running Photoshop (Old free version ._.), and making 3d models to start learning.

Gaming as well, basic list: PlanetSide 2, MineCraft (Heavily modded),Warframe,Hawken, and pretty much any F2P Game that comes out. (Preferably at Max settings W/ Stable FPS)

I do multitask ALOT, but I went with 8GB to start since memorys high right now.

I don't really care about colors, as I couldn't find a nice full tower case with a window that fit in the budget.

Air cooling, may OC in the future.

Nvidia only, as for CPU, I prefer Intel but I am not chained to it.

What I currently have picked out.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($319.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard:  MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Memory:  A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($63.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $729.93
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-03-30 16:28 EDT-0400)

Im upgrading because my desktop is an ancient POS with a pentium processor, and my laptop (3rd Gen i7 2.3Ghz W/ Nvidia 630M GPU 16GB DDR3 Ram) Just isnt handling any of my daily use well.

Edit: if it can fit into the budget, I REALY love this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146112

It seems you have a bit of wiggle room, so move up and get a G45 instead of a G41, it will give you a better overclock (since you have a -K processor) due to the better power delivery plus the S-ATA ports face sideways just in case you go SLI but I don't think that is an important factor.

1. There is a GPU here (and quite a powerful one at that.)

2. Overclocking does not matter. It will only marginally improve performance.

3. WD Greens are deathly slow as OS drives.

4. The PSU is better.

5. You don't need an i7 for gaming/Photoshop.

I forgot to mention, I am looking for a full tower (This isnt a one time use case im hoping to keep it for a LONG time, and i want to have space for anything I upgrade or in the event i overhaul.

Also, way over budget.

It seems you have a bit of wiggle room, so move up and get a G45 instead of a G41, it will give you a better overclock (since you have a -K processor) due to the better power delivery plus the S-ATA ports face sideways just in case you go SLI but I don't think that is an important factor.

I don't plan on overclocking right out of the gate, but its a plan in the event i need it, also ill look at that Mobo in a minute.

1. Awesome i was hoping a 780 would fit in the build.

2. Yah im not worried now, but in the future I want the option there is a K version of that processor for not much more right?

3. Thanks! I didn't know this, ill be more careful with drives from now on.

4. The one i had in originaly was 750W, is there a big enough difference to justify a 150W loss? I do plan on upgrading in the future.

5. Okay I wasn't sure, I know i5 doesnt have multithreading and i thought i would need it for some of the 3D Modeling programs.

Same as above, i do want a full tower, but with this build i think i could squeeze that in without any issues.

I'll definetly put everything you said to use as i look at any parts.

Also will i lose any features with Micro ATX vs normal ATX? I dont mind replacing a Mobo if i start overclocking.

After reading what TheSLSAMG had to say, and factoring in what ive read, I changed the Processor to a 4670k so I have the ability to OC in the future, changed the Mobo to one a friend recommended

(I doubt ill be overclocking on this board, if i start ill get a board made for overclocking) and I changed the case to a personal pref, crossed my fingers and hoped I would be allowed to go

over budget, and luckily i was. They also insisted on adding an Aftermarket cooler so we went with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. We will start purchasing the parts over the next few months.

Thanks for the help. :]

~ Part List (Only thing im not 100% Sure on is the Mobo Friend recommended it, not sure if theres anything better at the same/lower price for Standard ATX, with those features(4 ram slots 32GB Cap)

)(The AM Cooler isnt listed here because I just woke up and cant seem to navigate PCPartPicker))

Just some quick advice. Try not to go all out money wise on one componant and maybe skimp on the others. Also try to get a psu with a good rating to make sure it doesnt give you problems later on down the road. Mid tower cases will still fit pretty much anything and everything you throw in it. Personally if I was you and that was all the money I had to work with I would either wait till I had a bit more money to spend or if it is a really immediate need I would maybe get a cheaper GPU that can still handle 1080p gaming with high settings. Maybe consider switching a few things to AMD. Their cards arent bad for the prices, nor are AMD processors. My friend has a $1000 amd build that can handle new AAA titles with high graphics settings and still has fps to spare. (he has a 8320 cpu and a 7950 I believe). Sorry if I didnt really provide to many specifics in this post but just remember that good componants arent always cheap and that a few good parts that are expensive coupled with other parts that are cheaper may tend to break down or cause problems later on.

I'm not 100% sure where the build is skimping, although im sure the "All out" is about the 780, I plan on changing out Mobo/adding more ram in the future(Hopefully the price drops by then).

The PSU is rated 600W Continuous, not peak, I checked and it also has good reviews on both Newegg and amazon, as well as a couple reviews i read elsewhere.

The case is personal preference, unless theres a major change to cases (Somthing like front Thunderbolt or somthing insane) I wont be getting a new one for hopefully 5+ years I dont want to get somthing cheaper that I dont like and kick myself every time I look at it.

I want to stick with the 780, because I wont just be gaming on this, and I wont have the ability to upgrade that in the foreseeable furure, also the PC is being purchased for me as a gift, and will likely be purchased over 2-3 maybe even 4 months.

From what I've read from what ill use it for Intels better (If this can be proven otherwise im all ears) as for switching from Nvidia just no I am an Nvidia person through and through, I plan on getting a GSync monitor eventually and as I plan on getting a YouTube channel up and running, game recording with shadowplay is something that interests me plus I have terrible luck when recording normally so the shadow function that can record up to 20 minutes of gameplay that's already past is amazing.

Thanks for the input though, if there is anything that can prove AMD is better for what ill be using it for im all ears.

Wasn't trying to say any part of your build was skimping or too much. I was just saying advice in general. I am going Nvidia too because of shadowplay and some other reasons I was just trying to give general suggestions. AMD vs intel Intel wins in performance by a bit but Amd wins the "Bang for your buck" award and in general their processors function close to intel's. Didn't mean to sound like I was criticizing your choices.

Ah okay, well im not worried about lowering the cost now, the build has been (Approved) so to speak, just had to justify the extra on the case and gpu and it went by fine, only thing I realy wasn't sure about in the build was the Mobo, it was the best thing I could find under 80USD that was a standard atx board. TheSLSAMG's recommended build had a MicroATX board, and it had some not so nice limits(16GB Ram Cap/2 ram Slots) and I couldnt seem to find any Micro ATX that didnt have limits like that.

This is what I came up with:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($239.99 @ Newegg)

CPU Cooler:  Scythe SCMG-4000 79.0 CFM CPU Cooler  ($47.95 @ NCIX US) This thing is so quiet and cools just as well as the CM 212 variants.

Motherboard:  ASRock Z87 Pro4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($99.99 @ Newegg)

Memory:  A-Data XPG V1.0 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($63.99 @ Newegg)

Storage:  Seagate  2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive  ($119.99 @ Newegg) Since you need storage and yet don't have the money for an SSD boot drive this is the best option.

Video Card:  Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card  ($329.99 @ NCIX US)  Anything more is overkill for 1080P especially if you intend to get a Gsink monitor.

Case:  NZXT Phantom 410 (Gunmetal/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($89.99 @ Newegg)

Power Supply: Corsair Professional 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg) This is a solid power supply that will last.

Total: $1051.88

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I'm in the Salem OR area and wouldn't mind helping if you need it.  Good luck with the build.

I'm in the Salem OR area and wouldn't mind helping if you need it.  Good luck with the build.

Looking at the GPU, its a 2GB card vs 3GB in the 780, and alot of stuff I plan on running (Graphics improvements on Skyrim/Minecraft mostly) recommend more GPU ram if possible, I have noticed on newegg theres 4GB Variants of the 770, Would the 770 4GB be worth it? I plan on recording quite a bit, as well as when I get a G-Sync monitor, ill likely run it alongside the one I have, and I may get a 1440P Monitor when I do get a G-Sync monitor over a 1920x1080.

The case you recommended is actually out of stock on newegg, same with the Mobo, compared to the "Final" that i posted (Which i can still change nothings been purchased last i checked) will i see any noticeable issues if in the future i run Dual Monitors while recording?

Also thanks for offering your help, im actually in Salem as well, but my grandfather will actually be helping me, hes been working with computers for over 30 years and just helped my uncle build a PC so were set :D!

(As of 5 minutes ago its been decided that versus buying a part at a time, money will be saved up and buy it all at once through newegg W/ Newegg premier in case theres any issues)

@DeathRtH

It is always best to buy the parts at the same time so that they can be put together and tested for any DOAs.  Post back here once you have all the cash personally I would shoot for around $1200.  It is pointless to talk about parts now for any future build becouse of how prices change so fast and new parts could be on the market by then.

Kept the Mobo you recommended, I saw it has HDMI IN, which i amazing.
Went with the 212 Evo, I dealt with an off the shelf EMachines PC with fans that were screaming in my ear for 8 years, silence isnt a big issue here.
Kept the 2x4GB ram since it saved about 8USD.
Went back to the HDD i had before cheaper/good reviews.
I stuck with the 780, 770 is nice but I dont know when ill be able to upgrade. (But I may swap this out with the final build, depends on what comes out in the next 2-3 months)
Went with a cheaper case to offset the cost of the more expensive motherboard and some of the GPU cost.
Stuck with the PSU I had because the one you recommended was 30USD more, and even though it was better I want to keep the cost down where i can.
Found a much cheaper case that I like.

In the end we plan on getting the case soon (Maybe the PSU as well since it has a 3 year warranty) (Its on sale + rebate) and saving until we can get the rest all at once (unless theres a major sale).

The original plan was a part at a time, which is why I posted, plus at the very least I needed to have an idea of what could fit in a build like this.
Although i'll likely post again per your suggestion when the moneys in hand, since prices change quite fast with PC components.

Edit: Unlike the previous posts I made, this one has a cooler on the build = 30USD so it comes out looking like a very small change in price, even tho its almost 40USD
