Optiplex 9010

My friend has an Optiplex 9010 and would like to upgrade the CPU and motherboard. So I'm here to ask, which motherboard and CPU can fit in the chassis.(He'll be getting it used.)
He's also open to putting an AMD motherboard and CPU in the case if it can fit. Thanks.

If its full ATX then any normal AM4 motherboard will work.Is it Minitower,or small form factor?

But the power supply could be proprietary meaning he will have to change that aswell.

He's using a be quiet power supply, since he has a 1060. It's a mini tower.

Well then the motherboard is M-ATX and and any other normal M-ATX and maybe even full ATX motherboard will fit.

So,he's not going to have a problem fitting a motherboard in there.

Ok. Just to be careful I'll tell him to go for an MATX motherboard.  Can you recommend a CPU and motherboard combo he can get for cheap with going above 100 or 150 $?

I would reccomend an i3 10100+ Asus Prime H410M.I can find this combo for exactly 150 euro or roughly 182 dollars.

You could get an i3 9100f and cheap motherboard but i would reccomends saving up to get the combo i mentioned.

 

Anything less is probably not worth it unless you head to the used market.
