I'm currently using Sennheiser HD 215s, but the plug has an issue where it plays mucked up audio when plugged in properly, so to make it work it must be half unplugged from the audio source. Because of this, it has to be blu-tacked/taped into position in order to use. I've tried replacing the cord, and playing it on many devices, however the issue remained. If anyone knows what the problem is or how to fix it, please tell.

Requirements:

I'm looking into circumaural headphones, open or closed is fine, budget is less than AU$200, detachable/fold-able microphone is preferred, or without microphone entirely, one with no USB required to run.

It will be used as a general purpose headset, music, gaming, and a bit of video/sound editing.

Will be run on an Asus Xonar Essence STX, unless a better option presents itself.

The Asus ROG Vulcan Pro seems viable, but I want a second opinion on it.

Thanks in advance for any answers :)

Headphone: Audio Technica ATH AD or A700. Great sound for the price and some of the most comfortable headphones i've ever placed on my head (tired out the AD700's)

Headset: Astro A40's. Fully detableable cable system (using a standard 4-pole 3.5mm jack), mic ports on both sides with a secondary inline mic and mobile control button on the included cord, customizability with swappable speaker tags and still has great sound quality even with all of its features and Astro drop the price to 149 (from 200).

Motherboard: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi) | CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X | Memory: 32GB 3600mhz DDR4 | GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 |
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro 256gb, 850 Evo 500gb, 960 Pro 1tb | Cooling: Custom Liquid Cooling Loop (CPU/GPU) | Case: CaseLabs Mercury S8+Pedestal  | Monitors: Asus ROG Swift PG279Q + PA238QR

First off, to op, do not buy the stx. Just buy a xonar dg or dgx. It will make next to no difference with 200$ headphones.

Second, copy paste from another thread:

Srh-840, brainwavez hm5, if you can find some dt770/dt990 pro's for a good price that could be a good way to go under 200$.

Seriously though, we need more info. Price range, main usage scenario, genre's of music you listen to, etc.

Tell us what you listen to, how important comfort is for you, etc. Really helps.

Alright, DGX it is.

Comfort is very important as I spend a lot of time wearing headphones, I just need large earcups and robust size adjustment of the headband. I don't mind the material that the padding is made of, even leather that causes sweat is fine, I don't care about it.

I mainly listen to rock, funk and some electronic music.

for closed - dt770, for open - dt990. I prefer open, so for me dt990 is perfect. I can literally wear these for 50 hours straight with 0 discomfort, combined with a good price point (get the PRO version) and it's good for genre's. Fiio e10 amp/dac works extremely well with either headphone.
