Can you watch youtube videos or like crunchyroll videos on VLC?

I heard there was some video stream thing in VLC and I'm wondering is it possible to watch like YouTube videos there or like videos from crunchyroll

You can absolutely watch youtube on it, it's as easy as copying the link and pasting it on the VLC window. Don't know about crunchyroll, being a paid service (afaik) you probably can't without some sort of addon.

Where do I paste the link in VLC just CTRL + V on the player? Crunchyroll has a free version you can watch without account

Yes you can, open network stream and just add the video address.

Sorry, I missed a step. You need youtube-dl to get the correct URL first.

 

Once you installed youtube-dl you can open a terminal and type

youtube-dl -f best -g <link to the video>

then paste the output in VLC with ctrl-v.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Which part? If you mean install youtube-dl, download it from here and open a terminal in the same folder to access it.

it can't just play the video as far as I know, it can download it for you though. You should read the documentation for youtube-dl, there are a lot of features.

So if I do it on another site it just will download the video from your knowledge or wut?
