asus vg328 only showing at 60hz

I new built a pc with a rx 580 and bought a asus vg328 and it will only show in windows as a 60hz. ive updated the driver to asus not the generic monitor and tried changing the hz in display settings. also tried to make a custom resolution in the amd software but no luck not sure why. any help would be great.

update it was the cable. just wasnt good enough
