Proposed first build

I'm planning to build my first PC in about a week, but before I do I wanted to ask if anyone would look over my parts list to check that everything is compatible. I've done about three weeks of research already but I still want to get an experienced person's opinion to make sure I haven't missed anything important. Before I list my parts I'll answer the questions from the pinned thread:

1. Budget and location

Below $2000AUD. I live in Australia.

2. Aim

The things I mainly use my computer for are:

  • CAD.
  • Finite element analysis.
  • Programming PLCs
  • Office
  • Internet (who doesn't)
  • Gaming

In terms of games, I basically want to be able to run Deus Ex: Human Revolution at max settings without feeling like I'm watching a slideshow.

3. Monitors

Just one monitor. See below for my pick.

4. Peripherals

Keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers. That's it. Occasionally a PLC but I've got that covered.

5. Reason for upgrading

My laptop:

1) is very old

2) is horrible to use

3) is always very hot

4) overheats in Australian summers

Without further ado here are the parts I've picked thus far:

Case

Motherboard

CPU

Graphics card

RAM

PSU

Storage - SSD

Storage - HDD

I intend to disassemble and repurpose an old 1TB 3.5" Western Digital external HDD.

Optical drive

Edit:

Case fans x2

OS

Keyboard and mouse

Monitor

Speakers

Fan filter

HDMI cable

Fan cable splitter x2

Lighting

Total cost: $1,792.50 AUD

Are you limited to pccasegear or are you open to other Australian vendors?

Why wireless keyboard/mouse?

Are you planning on crossfire?

Why the extra case fans?

..Is the bluray burner really necessary?

Thanks SAV1OUR I'm considering it, but I'll need to give the extra expense some thought.

Hey WoodenMarker

I'm open to others if I can find all the components in one place; I'd prefer to deal with just one vendor.

I'm not a fan of cables as I've used cabled mechanical keyboards before and I don't see what the fuss is about.

Not planning on crossfire, I'll probably just buy a high end card sometime in the future.

In Australia it gets very hot, and my house doesn't have great air conditioning so I need a lot of cooling. I'd consider water cooling but I might invest in that later.

The burner isn't really necessary, I suppose I could shave some money off there.

Edited.
