If you right click the application icon, doesnt pop up in the list of actions something like: "Open with graphics processor" with a drop-down list with two options?

That's for the Java edition launcher. Look for something like 1.16.<something> or a snapshot number.

on the nvidia side of things, it only ever works reliably if you just set the dGPU as primary.

few things you can try:

- set java.exe and javaw.exe executables (found in the java install directory) to use dGPU

- set minecraft.jar (inside the minecraft install directory) to use the dGPU if the AMD side of things allows you to do that.

- set the launcher executable to use the dGPU.

its 1.16.5

So look for Minecraft: 1.16.5 with the crafting table, and dedicate it to that, or the JRE Runtime Environment. I play on Bedrock so I could be wrong

java is incredibly terrible with the gpu switching thing, the best bet is to essentially go trough every executable in the chain and hope at some point the setting will stick.
