Is it better than what you have? Can you get a motherboard for it?

I could use some help with this!

Moved to the CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory forum. Please post in the relevant forum.

 

The i7 950 is a 12 year old CPU, you can get better CPUs for less. If you don't have a compatible motherboard it can be difficult to find one and old motherboards can be expensive.

Then yeah its a upgrade. The I7 would need a LGA 1366 motherbaord that supports the cpu in its bios support./

What would you suggest because i would need a motherboard and CPU my core 2 duo is on its last legs.

See if you can get a motherboard + CPU + RAM combo of something like an i5 2600 or i5 3570. They're quite common in old office PCs but if you want to upgrade the PC with a graphics card try to avoid the slim Dell PCs as they often use proprietary PSUs and motherboards.
