I'm thinking of getting a new mobo, as my current one is a bit on the low end (ASUS Prime A320M-K), and I have found 2 but I don't know which one is better. I currently have a Ryzen 5 2600x, and I plan to upgrade it in a few years, possible to a 5000 series, so I am thinking of getting a B550. I have found 2 motherboards that suit my price range, which one is better for overclocking? The Gigabyte one has a better rear I/O, but is it better or worse than the MSI one for overclocking?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I think both would OC just fine. The msi one might be better, though. With what you are spending, you could get a x570 gaming edge, which would be a better board.  Any of them would handle a 5000 series just fine (maybe not an oced 5950x though). Just choose whatever one you like best based on your needs.  would get the refurbished x570, but no option is bad.

My primary system: Core I7 10700k, 32 gb Trident Z RGB ram@3200mhz, EVGA GTX 970 SSC (will upgrade), NZXT N7 Z490 motherboard (Black), Samsung 970 Evo plus 1TB SSD, NZXT C850 PSU, Hyper 212 EVO cooler (getting new water cooler soon), NZXT H510i case.

My secondary system: Core I7 4820k, 16 gb quad channel 1600mhz ram, GTX 780 reference, Asus PX79LE, SK Hynix GOLD s31 500gb SSD, some 10 yr old Cooler Master 750w psu, Hyper 212, old Cooler Master case.

Laptop: Lenovo l380 yoga I5 8250u, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd storage)

Thanks for your views, I'll see if I can find a good X570

What's your budget, and what's your location and currency?

B550, at least natively, does not support Zen+ (So your 2600X in this case), so you'll need either a B450 board or an X570 board to support your current CPU while allowing you to update the BIOS to support the AGESA code for Zen 3.

This is categorically wrong. The Gaming Edge is an overpriced garbage board and is simply worse than both of the boards linked above.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Would a Ryzen 5 2600x work on the b550 board? On their website the lowest gen Ryzen is the 3000 series.

No, as I said above, it does not, you'd need an X570 or a B450 board to support your current CPU and allow you to support Zen 3 CPU (Though with a Beta BIOS on B450).

I’m currently using an A320 board, and I want to get into some overclocking. Not like super high end, just a few hundred mghz kinda thing. I’m looking around the £100 mark, most I’d be likely to spend would be £125 or £130, anything more than that is kind of the point of diminishing return for me. My case is micro atx, so only matx mobos

Sadly for X570, mATX is a dead form factor.

Any of the boards above will handle the 2600X easily and are decent. Do note, the B450M TUF Pro S is a good board, while the B450M TUF Pro Gaming/ TUF Plus are both significantly worse and are not the same board.
