I can't seem to find anything online that speaks directly to what I'm trying to do so I want to ask if my plan makes sense.

Currently I boot Windows 8 off an SSD but my Seagate HDD just bit the dust so I'm replacing it. My plan is to save some money and get a 3 TB WD Green drive for music and general storage and a 1 TB WD Black for storing all my games and applications that aren't on the SSD. This is cheaper than just getting a larger Black drive.

Does a setup like this make sense or would it be better to just pony up and get a bigger Black drive. All comments are appreciated. Thanks,

Jim

Thanks for the input. There are no 4 TB blues at my store. Two 2 TB blacks are significantly more expensive than the 1 TB Black and 3 TB Green and I probably don't need 4 TB of storage, but it couldn't hurt.

Getting the Green and Black costs the same as a 3 TB Black but you get the extra 1 TB of space so it's a better deal. A 3 TB Black would probably be suitable for my needs though. Is having two drives a pain to work with or is it generally okay having music and games all split onto different drives?

I'd get a 3tb blue and 1tb black or a 4tb blue.
