Please, please help me decide: "Asus TUF VG289Q" vs "LG UltraGear 27GL850-B"

Themfolks

I've been hesitating for a week now and I can't decide. Which monitor do you think is a better deal? Both monitors are in the exact same price range (in my country), so budget isn't a factor. Both monitors are IPS panel. Both of them are nearly the same size.

Asus TUF VG289Q

Pros:

- 3840x2160  (overall sharper image quality)

- 10-bit panel + HDR

-  Built-in speakers

Cons:

- 60Hz (I play online games a lot)

- No USB HUB

- 5ms response time

- No G-sync

LG UltraGear 27GL850-B

Pros:

- 144Hz

- USB HUB

- 1ms response time (which is in fact 3ms but still, better nonetheless)

- G-sync

Cons:

2560x1440 (overall blurrier image quality compared to the other monitor)

- 8-bit panel (I might be wrong)

- No Built-in speakers

😞

144hz seems like a no brainer.

Though, if it were me, I wouldn't choose either, I'd go for an ultrawide.

Posting your spec might help people steer you in one direction or the other.

I'd go with the LG if its primarily for gaming, because you probably won't be able to play games in 4K, and 1440P is still great.

Yeah, a 2060 can't play games in 4K at any more than 30 FPS, except maybe League of Legends, and games like that.

I have the LG monitor you listed and I love it, Very nice colors with very little latency. Besides you won't be able to play 30+ fps at 4k with an 2060. Feel free to ask me questions

I have just watched a couple of reviews, including Linus' video about this LG monitor and everybody seems to agree that the input lag is extremely low (I think that's what you referred to as latency), which I would love! I have an old 1080P Smart TV which I used to play console games on but not for long because that input lag is straight up disgusting. My current monitor is an Ultrawide LG with a resolution of 2560x1080 and I hate it, I also hate the black bars that appear on the sides in most contents I watch or games I play. I think I'll get this LG monitor because I think I can take advantage of the 144Hz with low graphical settings in certain demanding games, especially with DLSS!

EDIT: There are fewer review videos about the Asus monitor and I think it has higher input lag, too.

You sure can. I'm playing COD warzone on an 1060 6GB with DLSS myself

Do you use the monitor in the default response time mode? I heard the 'Fastest' mode causes severe ghosting.

How long have you been using it? Any dead pixels? Errors?

I use it in 'fast' mode. The fastest mode does create severe ghosting. I've been using it since christmas and have 1 dead pixel in the right bottom-middle area. Although my brother who also has the same monitor has none.
