Hello People,

I plan to start  using linux as my main os.

I wanna play games too and for that I will use proton,wine,etc..

But I also need a Windows wm for vr games and some software that I use.

I have two graphic card a 3070 and a 970 I could use one for the main os and passthrough the other to the vm.

Is it possible to boot on the 3070 and then change it witch the 970 while the system is running to passthrough the 3070 on the vm and set it back after I close the VM.

Thank you !

PS: Sorry my english is soo bad and my spelling must be awful. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No, unfortunately that's not possible. I suggest you just play games on the Windows VM unless it's something light where gpu performance doesn't matter much.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

That's sad it would be great to be able too.

By the way is there's a way to do it maybe with other hardware or technology (just curious and find post from people woo did it with Intel on board graphics and dedicated graphic)

Anyway,

thanks for your answer :)

What you're talking about is NVIDIA Optimus and it's extra hardware -- you don't get that on a desktop PC.

you'll have to restart the xorg server each time you switch. But yes it's technically possible.
