wierd C drive problem

Go to solution Solved by Tech87,

I've never used windirstat, so I'm not familiar with it.

When I have users with storage issues at work, I always use the program treesize free.

It scans a drive and shows a graphical breakdown of all the data and which folders are the largest.

Give that a try.

Hello,

i have a small problem with my c drive, which is 250GB ssd. i used this drive to install windows and nothing else( atleast thats what i think).

now last week i notices i only had like 400MB left so i started to delete my temp files and cache's etc...

this problem is still going on at the moment i cleared like 25GB already, but now im out of options. i've searched for this topic over and over again and tried every solution. then i saw a thread about windirstat so i thought i'd give it a try and i've noticed that my drive says i use abàout 200GB and windirstat says i only use about 65GB.

my default download paths lead to my bigger ssd and hdd so that should be no problem.

what can i do to fix this or is my ssd the problem ?

thanks very much in advance

Say you have 8GB RAM or 16GB RAM.

Disable Hibernation and youll get 8 or 16GB back.

Open a CMD Prompt with Admin rights.

Type

Powercfg -h off

Done.

However...

In SOME CASES on random machines doing this it does half the job...., if you didnt gain it back....you'll have to reboot, activate the show hidden files in "view properties"tabs, then delete hiberf.sys thats located on C:\ root folder.

Saving space thats equal to RAM amount

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Your system has 130GB of files spooled in the printer directory. That's crazy. I've never seen that before.

Glad the program helped you find and resolve that issue. Cheers!
