Budget (including currency): $450 USD

Country: U.S.A.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: School, VALORANT, COD, and GTA V

Other details:

I currently have a Inspiron 3847 prebuilt (specs: i5 4460 12gb 1600MHz, and 300w PSU)

I was thinking whether I should upgrade and put a GTX 1650 in it for $450 (I know is overpriced) or build a new pc with a Ryzen 3 3200g for $450ish and put in a GPU like next year.

You're definitely on the right track but change the components to an intel 10400, along with a b460  motherboard, and 2666 MHz ram. This CPU will be much more powerful than the 3200G and will make much more sense when you finally get your GPU.

The intel iGPU might not be as strong as the Vega(which you'd be using while you wait), but I'd stick to intel nonetheless for this build.

Also I'd change the storage to an SN550 500/250 GB, or if you're really strapped for cash, a crucial mx500, or if that isn't possible, at least an Adata su650, I wouldn't take the 635 it's QLC flash. Hope it helps.

10400 or 11400 is definetly the right choice here, as the 3200G uses the Zen2 architecture and won't age as good im gaming. Even if that means you'll have a slower iGPU to start out. But if you can- go for the 11th gen Intel CPU as the iGPU is better than in 10th gen. Also go for faster memory than 2666 because your iGPU will heavily benefit from that.

As for the rest, i pretty much agree with @AnirbanG007.

Here would be my take on this price range. (Yes i know it's $50 over budget, but i couldn't find the right component where it makes sense to save the $50)

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Honestly, if OP can afford it, it's a better build than 10th gen, also totally agree about RAM speeds.
