Hey guys! Looking at possibly getting a new CPU. Is there any major differences I would see between my Ryzen 7 1700x vs let’s say a ryzen 9? Just curious. Thanks!

Depends on which ryzen 9 it is. if its the same generation then itll mostly just be more cores which will increase multithreaded perfromance, if it is from a newer generation like 3000 or 5000 series, then itll have much better single and multithreaded performance

Main PC | AMD R7 3700X | Noctua D14 | MSI RTX 2080 Super XS OC | Corsair Vengence LPX 32GB DDR4 3200MHz | MSI B550A Pro | 1TB PNY XLR8 NVMe SSD | Kingston A400 960GB SSD | 2TB Western Digital Green HDD | Fractal Design Define R6TG |

Laptop (Asus TUF FX505DY) | AMD R5 3550H | RX560X | Crucial DDR4 16GB 2400MHz | Western Digital SN550 256GB SSD | PNY CS900 960GB SSD |

Phone | Samsung S10 Lite (128GB + 128GB SD card) |

Other Cool Stuff | Steam Link | Sontronics Podcast Pro | NZXT Hue+ | Corsair K70 MK 2 (MX Brown) | Logitech G402 | HiSense A7300 43 Inch 4K TV | Logitech C920 | Ender 3 Pro with Bulleye Fan duct and BLTouch |Sony PS4 | Nintendo Switch

There are only 3000-series and 5000-series Ryzen 9's. So OP will see a large difference either way.

Would I see any differences gaming wise? And what’s the best or one of the best processors out rn? I have a gtx 1080ti and 32gb ram. With this MB. Not sure if it’ll work with this MB.

With an X370-F, you're limited to 3000-series max. The best CPU you could get for that without upgrading to at least 400-series is the 3950X - Zen 2, 16 cores, 32 threads.

So if you want the best processor you can, get a 3950X.

Just FYI - I've had a 2600, a 3600, and now a 5800x.  I've been able to tell a difference every generation in single-core performance.
