Storage server

Can someone help me setup a storage server on a raspberry pi 4 with 1tb external hard drive to Store the files? Preferably be able to access it easily.

from where and via which connection do you want to access the files?

 

generally you will get a much better performance if you connect the external drive directly to the PC where you want to access the files from.

Connect RPI4 to network via Ethernet.

Connect the said eHDD to RPI4.

Create a mount for the eHDD on RPI4.

Install samba on to RPI4.

Configure samba on the RPI4 (to suit your needs).

Simple, this assumes you know how to find out the local ip of the RPI and able to connect via SSH.
