"Threadripper bracket not included"

3link

I am considering purchasing the NZXT Kraken Z73 for my new threadripper 3960x.  The specifications for the Kraken Z73 indicate that it is compatible with sTRX4 with the caveat that the "Threadripper bracket [is] not included".

Can someone tell me what the Threadripper bracket is and how I can acquire one?  Google has let me down.

Personally, AIOs that are not specifically designed for Threadripper shouldn't be used on Threadripper due to the shear size of the package. That said, what you need to do is contact NZXT and request the bracket. Usually for this you will be required to show proof of ownership of both the cooler and a motherboard of the socket type you need the bracket for.

Brackets are a mean to mount the cooler to the CPU itself, you should be able to get one by asking NZXT customer service. But the thing is, a full IHS coverage is a must for Threadripper, and Z73 round design does not suit it. You should try to get a full cover cooler like NH-U14S TR4-SP3, or custom water loops from the likes of EK or Alphacool.

When choosing an AIO, it's usually not a good idea to use a universal cooler that can fill all sockets like AM4 and sTRX4 as well and use it for Threadripper. The cover area is generally too small, even with the bracket. Your best bet is to choose a specific sTRX4 made AIO with a much bigger socket coverage.

For NZXT you need to request the bracket. Usually the same way with other AIO brands like CM, Antec, Arctic, etc.

Thanks, all.  Is there any way to search for an AIO that is specifically made for the sTRX4 (as opposed to one that is merely compatible)?  I suspect I won't be able to find one.  If that's the case, then I guess my only options are air or a custom loop.

Googling 'TR4 liquid cooler' and looking up the models to see if the cold plate is the correct size is one way to go about it. If the cooler name has 'TR' in the name, that's a good sign. That being said, there aren't many reviews to go on.

What features are you looking for in a cooler?
