Say I have a pc with 4 slots, I put in 2 sticks of 8GB(8x2) 3600Mhz CL16 ram sticks in slot 1 and 3( 1 being the closest to cpu) and then I put two 16GB(16x2) 3600Mhz CL16 sticks in slot 2 and 4. Will I get 48GB of 3600Mhz CL16 ram or will something else happen?

p.s. I know mismatched memory is not good for performance

You’ll get 32Gb in dual channel and 16gb in single channel, so as soon as you top out 32Gb you’ll see a small performance hit as the memory starts to use single channel blocks

What will happen if I swap the slots, so 8x2 in 2,4 and 16x2 in 1,3
