Hello, I have recently built a new computer with band new parts, and actually got my hands on an ASUS ROG STRIX 3070 OC Edition, but it seems to be getting really hot, at Its pretty good with temps at idle in the 30-40c but once i start playing a game for a little while I notice that it hovers around 92c but doesn't get higher than that (I assume due to thermal throttling) But this is quite concerning to me because I have messed with fan settings manually but it still hits the 92 mark, I am not over clocking anything and I'm afraid this might kill my new GPU

will I have played around with it and even took off the front panel but still had an air filter on it to increase the intake with 2 140mm fans, but it didn't effect the temps on the GPU, my CPU temps are perfect so I'm not sure if that's the issue

I'm assuming they're at 100% speed past where you're comfortable no?  Can you hear them ramping up ?

Yes i can absolutly hear the ramping up and it seems to prolong the 92c but not prevent

It looks like your card has a dual bios switch at the rear, is it on silent operation mode?

yes i have played with at its set to p mode instead of q i believe the p is for performance and Q is for silent, I may be wrong tho

It should be on P for Performance I believe.  Myself at this point I'd be tempted to check the paste/pad (TIM) on the GPU.

I have thought about that, but I a little afraid of hurting it, I have never taken one apart before. I have build multiple pc for my brothers, but Id be really sad to find i shorted my board or something

If you're not comfortable doing it, don't do it.  They're not suppose to throttle until 93c.... I feel your worry though, I'd take the side panel off and aim a fan at it. =P

if its stupid and it works then its not stupid, but i will still be checking this forum often if anyone has more advice

It seems v odd with the cooling you have, are you sure you have you intakes and exhausts configured correctly? Otherwise unless your case is just killing the fan performance, seems like checking the paste is the only option. Do you know anyone who has more experience who could help you out if you don't want to do yourself?

yeah i have 2 intakes and 2 exhausts which should be good with a case of this size

if its very hot do you use it for mining? and you should probably buy a heatsink

i wouldn't doubt it its very close to it but i cant remove it un less i drill out the rivets

Aye.  That is definitely Not helping with your GPU temps at all.  Also that case is pretty small.  I would recommend you get a taller case so you have ample airflow underneath the GPU.

Or take everything out carefully and drill out those rivets if you want to go the mod route.

yeah both of those could solve my problem, too bad the cases are weirdly expensive currently. so i may be drilling some stuff out soon
