Recently I started working on a PC build inside of the shell of a Nintendo GameCube. Although I’ve already started I still have some parts to figure out and I will try and keep this thread updated as I do more and more with the build.

Here is the parts I already have

Motherboard: Asrock DeskMini A300

CPU: 3200g (I wish that I was able to use my old 2700x and under volt it but sadly the desk mini straight up refuses to boot with it even if you have an eGPU)

CPU Cooler: Noctua L9i with AMD mounting hardware

GPU: 1660 super plugged into a m.2 to PCIE 4x adaptor

Ram: 2x8 G.SKILL Ripjaw 2666 soduim

Power Supply: Still working on this part but the idea is to use a 330watt AC-DC power brick from Dell into a Pico (or similar size) power supply however I need to find one that can do ~250 watts on the 12 volt rail as I plan on running the Motherboard off of it as long as it doesn’t tank CPU clock speed (motherboard ships with a 19 volt AC-DC power brick but I’ve seen it work on 12 volts)

I also have some neat features planned/working such as the front controller ports on the GameCube working so I can use real GameCube controllers, working original power button, and a super experimental idea where the reset button triggers servos/small solenoids that would open up the shell. Another idea that I have is 3D printing a new shroud for the GPU in order to try and turn it into a blower style card since the stock fan placement will have a hard time getting air.

Let me know what you guys think I am very open to ideas.

While I wait for some of my last parts to come in I started modeling the original shroud for my 1660 super (I find it easier to design altered parts if I start by making the original). I still have to model the mounting holes so it can screw into the heat sink but let me know what you guys think.

Today I printed the test fit for the GPU shroud, I noticed that the hole in the file and isn’t circular at all and that’s because I downloaded the low quality version instead of the high quality file version on accident. I think it’s safe to say that I can now start editing and creating my custom fan GPU shroud now.

Today I got one of the two M.2 to PCIe 4x risers that I ordered and tested to make sure that my graphics card worked and indeed it booted up however I couldn’t bench mark the system yet as I’m still waiting for my Intel WiFi card to come in the mail (I hate living in the middle of nowhere Alaska) and I am unable to get drivers or log into steam in order to get 3D Mark downloaded until that happens.
