ARGB Quick help

TubbyTubb

So I bought this ARGB kit off of eBay it has everything I need to hook it up to my PC and to also use on my new desk once I feel well enough to move it to my room where I can kinda customize it. My question is I have a 3 prong and a 4 prong LED header on my motherboard which one should I use?? I have the 4 pin on my strip of lights l, also is there a certain orientation to ugh it in or does it not matter???

3 Pin header is rated at 5V, and it is considered as Addressable RGB "ARGB" header. That 4 pin header is rated at 12V and has one pin for each color R, G, B and ground. So it (4pin) does NOT have data stream going through.

Use 3pin header if you want to control that led strip with your PC. If that spesific led strip does not have one, you can connect it to 4pin header and control it with included remote.

Hope this clears something up!

Does it matter which way I connect it to that header?? Reason I asked is because I've looked as well as I could and I couldn't see if there was a color code or anything on it, thanks for your help.

TYVM Thrasher, I'll have to get a better angle on those plugs so I can find which side is positive, much appreciated.

  • 2 weeks later...

Quick question which one of the two connectors will give me control of all the colors and stuff the three or 4 pin RGB header?? I'll control the lights behind my desk and on back of the TV will be controlled by the little control box that came with them, I just need help with the lights in my case.

well its a bit confusing but for for mb headers 4pin is rgb 12v solid color and 3pin is argb 5v witch stands for addressable rgb meaning each led can have its own color. but you can get 4pin argb as well as 5v rgb and 12v argb is also posable but mostly in strips.

5pin is rgbw meaning there is red green blue and white.
