Fan Control Software

I need to control the fan speed of my Dell laptop (it has one fan, the CPU fan). I have tried a few software like SpeedFan, HWMoniter, ArgusMoniter, but they don't detect the fan. HWInfo detects the fan, but the fan curve I set on it is not followed by my laptop. I can only control it when I click 'set manual' but the change only stays for 2-3 seconds, before the fan goes back to its original speed. I couldn't find any fan control in the BIOS. What should I do?

Unless there is some miracle thing provided by dell to change it, the bios most likely is locked down to prevent what your attempting to do. That seems like the most reasonable reason why when you try to manually set it it does it for a few seconds but goes back to regular is because the bios is enforcing the factory fan curve. Might not be why but seems like the most likely reason to me.

 

(You dont say what dell laptop this is so I'm assuming this is some run of the mill dell laptop not a 'gaming branded one'
