Hello,

I once had 2x8gb gskill ram, one of those died. eventually i bougt 2x8gb corsair vengeance ram and that is what i am running now. my question is, can i still plug the fuctioning skill module in? and in what order? i have 4 slots for ram

Welcome to the Form!

I recommend going with only the new ones and put them in a1 b1 or a2 b2 if you don't know what that means I can just put it easier for you, put it one in the first slot from left to right and the other one in the third slot you do that to enable dual channel mode so you wont go in the hybrid mode which is putting 3 sticks of ram don't do that just sell that one

You can, but it probably won't help your performance. I would keep just the two in personally. As for the order of having 3, you would need to look at your mobo but you almost can't go wrong with just putting 3 in any of the 4 and having it work the same as any other arrangement. 16GB RAM is enough for almost any standard application, especially gaming.

Depends. What are the full specs of the memory kits? It is worth to consider the following, unless you have a specific motherboard that allows per channel memory tuning, all RAM sticks will operate with the speed (MHz and timings) of the slowest module installed and also with the highest required voltage. Meaning if you have one stick requiring 1.35V, while the other two need 1.2V, all will operate at 1.35V. None of this is optimal. Also adding more memory capacity doesn't yield better performance unless you are currently running out of system memory .
