As  I start to get ready for the warmer months, looking at still contributing to the greater folding cause I am starting to wonder if their is any point putting my CPU's in the folding loop. Right now I have a 10900X and 10900KF both sitting at about 5GHZ, and they are able to spend about 80% of their day folding, but combined at all 40 cores in the folding mix, I am getting under 1 Million points off of them. The 3090 and 2080's are giving me a tad over 11M. At this point I am just not sure that even having the 1M points per day involved is worth the heat offset from the processors.
Has anyone else just stopped bothering with CPU folding? I feel like it may not be worth the effort and heat.

yep. I only use my CPU's for folding in events. Generally speaking, it's not worth it for the amount of power they draw. When you get into the higher core counts this starts to change, but even with my EPYC 7551 32 core it's barely even worth it.

I don’t fold on my CPUs, just the GPUs but I do use the CPUs for BOINC as their wattage is almost negligible compared to the GPUs.

For the GPUs I run them at a “titch” just above the minimum power limit which greatly reduces the heat with only a very small ~5-10% reduction in PPD. Likewise, the CPUs can be under-volted/under-clocked/power tables adjusted for a significant decrease in power with a similar much less significant heat output.

You can also use FAHclient commands and CRON (Unix) or the Windoze Command Scheduler to “finish” slots before the hot periods and “unpause” them during not so hot periods which is also useful as the “hot” periods generally align with when electricity rates get more expensive in many regions.
