I bought a new build which will be my gaming rig.

My old gaming rig, I will pass it to my son.

My son's old gaming rig will be me new Plex server.

My current Plex server is a POS dual core AMD Linux so I'm moving it to Windows.

The new rig is no problem since everything is fresh and a new OS I'll install.

Basically the swap will be between my old gaming rig and my son's.  Two things:

1.  Swap the hard drives and call it a day.  Oh how I wish.  I understand that Win 10 licenses are tied to the motherboard and all sorts of crap like that.  Or maybe is it?  I'm not sure but do let me know if it might work close to that.  When I swapped my Linux Plex server from one computer to another, it was that easy.  Pull the drive from one computer and into another and after a short initialization, back in business.

2.  Without touching the OS between the 2 computers, I just want to sign out of our Microsoft accounts, backup all documents, restore them on the other computer and initialize the accounts and be all set.  I'm thinking it would be a lot easier this way.  2nd part of this question is that what do I backup besides the user's folder under the profile?  Basically I'd like all his game files to remain in tact.

3.  Fresh OS install.  Not sure if I want to do it since I don't know what license it tied to which one of dozens of machines I've built over the last 5 years.

What do you guys think?

Microsoft changed it so that if it linked to an account you can use it on any device you are logged into.

I removed some of my old devices I no longer have from my account.  So far I'm not being prompted to activate.  Fingers crossed.  Thanks!
