Connecting USB Drive over SATA

Hello everyone, 

 

I tried taking the hdd off of my old Samsung D3 usb drive and connecting to my motherboard via SATA but I get the following errors:

And it looks as though I have partitions like this: (please see the 3TB disk below)

 When I put the external drive together and connect it on USB it still worked fine:

I really don't want to have to format it and lose everything on it just to connect it from inside the case. 

 

Does anyone have any idea as to what may be the problem?
