I wandered around the local Microcenter and never really found anything that suited my fancy. The closest I got was this 'Allsop' super-thin mousepad with a sticky back. Well, that lasted about 1 month before it started to curl up at the edges. I also tried a hard plastic table placemat (like, for eating; something you'd give a messy kid). It also curled after a few months of use. I'm good with DIY; I don't need it to be 'gamer' themed. The closest example I have to what I want is an old alienware mousepad I got with a PC back in 2005. It was around 2mm thick and rigid plastic. It had a rough side and slick side (since that was when ball mice were still a thing). But it also had a rubber base the pad fit into. That rubber base kept it from sliding around, but the bezel was so small it really couldn't curl, and the plastic was thick enough it didn't bend. "So why not use that?" Because it's 5" x 6". I'd prefer something in the 13"x10" range. Anyone got anything for me to consider?

What's wrong with just your desk surface? Why do you not want a traditional mouse pad type material? Not trying to argue with; I'm just literally not understanding what you're going for here.

Why not a normal mousepad?

Also, why can't you just use your desk if you want something thats hard surfaced?

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

The desk is MDF covered in a veneer wrap to make it look like wood. I don't want to find out how durable that is by repeatedly mousing on it. Also, tracking on the surface kinda sucks. Finally, it is *so* smooth that the mouse will move on its own or with the slightest of touches. I want slightly more friction.

'why not a normal mousepad' every cloth pad I've ever had curls at the edges within a year. I want something that doesn't bow/curl.

People suggesting using 'just' desk, yikes.

There are few plastic pads. From like Logi, Steelseries, they're thicker ones, though they can deform. Razer Acari is a thin plastic pad, a bit larger than those two. Also there are some other brands like Glorious offering hard and speed pads. Xtrfy too, though I haven't tried.

I use glass pad personally.
