I made a post here not too long ago about having freezing issues. Since then I have:

Ran MemTest86 for 4 passes on each stick with no errors

Ran the system with different sticks in slots 2 and 4 (Installing the RAM in slots 1 and 3 gives a CPU error and no POST). The system always freezes, no matter which stick I use.

Replaced the mobo (same model)

I'm pretty sure it's a memory related issues because I caught it mid freeze at one point and Windows gave me and error message saying that it failed to write data to 2 specific memory locations. I couldn't read the whole message because the system rebooted before I could finish, but I did read the part it failing to write data. After seeing this and reading everything I have, my understanding is that if your system is having memory issues it can be 1 of 3 things: RAM, CPU, or Mobo (please correct me if I'm wrong). As I said before I have tried all sticks of RAM in MemTest, and I have now replaced the mobo (same model). None of this has fixed the issue, so all that's left is CPU. Only problem is that I have a 5600x, so it's not like I can just go on Amazon and go buy one at MSRP whenever I want and that's still a lot of money considering what I've already spent just trying troubleshoot this thing.

If anyone has any sort of insight on this kind of situation, I'll be happy to answer any questions with as much detail as possible, and would greatly appreciate it. I've been dealing with this since the beginning of January and have spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours trying to solve it. Thanks for reading.

By symptom, you mean what actually happens when it freezes?

I don't have NZXT CAM. I have an Arctic AIO.

Like freezing can occur in many ways, like everything locks up, you cant even move your mouse, or you can move your mouse but other stuff doesnt work, or start menu still works, "freezing" is very broad nowadays.

And thats fair enough, some people install CAM to monitor their device, even if they dont own NZXT fans/RGB/or cooling but have you run a chkdsk on your hard drive / ssd

When it freezes, I still have display and I can still move my mouse. I can even switch between applications a couple times, but after 2-3 times that too locks up. I can open the start menu and attempt to shut down/restart the system, but it just doesn't do anything. Only way to reboot is to hold down the power button, or turn off the PSU.

Edit: Forgot about your other question. I don't think I've run chkdsk, I did run the script to "validate the interiority of my system files" and that came back clean. I can try running chkdsk in about 20 minutes when I get back home. Had to leave when I check on the PC and noticed it had frozen.

Edit 2: Further clarification on the first point, when I go to restart the system it does close out the start menu and seems to be attempting to close out programs so that it can restart. However, it just sits on the desktop until it gets powered off.

Finally back home and did run chkdsk, and it found no problems.

I've actually found out that this is an issue isolated to Ryzen 5000 CPU's since I made this post, specifically with them not getting enough voltage when idling/doing light tasks. Options are to either adjust the voltage curve manually, which I have zero experience with any OC'ing in the BIOS, or to try and get Newegg to replace it. I ordered it 1/19/21 though, so I don't know if it's been too long even though you would technically consider this a faulty product. I also use Ryzen Master for Auto OC, so I'm not sure if they would accept it after that.

I have FINALLY found the solution to this problem for everyone that it applies to.

Disable Global C-State Control
I tried many various solutions, however this was the only one that solved the problem. Since disabling it, my system has been running for over 5 days with 0 freezes.

From what I understand from reading around, the actual issue is that the CPU is not getting sufficient power when idle/under low load. Some motherboards have a feature called AMD Cool n' Quiet (this one is pretty old) or Global C-State Control. Also from what I understand, this feature controls how the CPU behaves and receives power when idle/dormant. I don't know the specifics behind it, but essentially this feature is choking the CPU for a second which causes the system to partially lock up. One of the threads that I was reading had someone saying that disabling c-state control lock their CPU at 3800Mhz. For me this was not the case. I'm not using a manual OC, and am just using the Auto OC feature in Ryzen Master. I don't know if this has anything to do with that user's observation, but wanted to at least mention it.
