VRM quality determination

Hey,

I know what are the VRMs on the board and what's their goal.

 

I see some manufactures on low-end boards (like Gigabyte B450M-H) are using much more capacitors and chokes, but vrm testing results show that they are not that good.

I understand that's regarding their quality and not their quantity.

 

How can I understand which are good and which are not? only by the motherboard VRM list? Can't be another way?

yeah but how do they consider it good? Only by temps on load?

There is a mobo tier thread that ranks boards based on there quality ,chief among them there vrm solution. I would look that up. I would link it but I'm currently on mobile so not the easiest to gather and link.

Tech sheets of each individual VRM. VRM layout is also important.

Understanding of electronics, often by reading the specsheets for the components involved, measurements of power-consumption and thermals.

Most of it is math and the individual components used. Actually hardcore overclocking on YouTube is a huge resource in this. I would recommend looking him up if you're interested in learning more about it.
