$100 GPU

Jo5dsman
Go to solution Solved by Nathanpete,

Yes you need a GPU. Get something like a GT 710 or GT 730. Also are you sure you actually need a new PSU? What makes you suspect you need a new one?

So I uh...kinda made a noob mistake, was taking a pre built and wanted to upgrade it for work, so I slapped a B450m-HDV, a Ryzen 5 2600X and 2 4 gb patriot viper steel ram. It doesn't post...come to find out I have no integrated graphics with this cpu, because I had to switch cpu's because one ran out of stock, and I didn't do my homework. So I need a gpu around $100 to put in this rig. Also need to upgrade the power supply so if anyone knows any deals on power supply/gpu, let me know. Also I guess if it should be posting without a gpu then I have a whole different issue then, not really the place for that but if anyone has some information I'd greatly appreciate some advice. Also don't really plan on gaming...just need it to run fast and work.

Edit: Forgot that some graphics cards have internal power just from plugging it in, so might not need a power supply after all.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

MAYBE a GeForce GT1030 or GT710?

Might have a better chance of picking up a Ryzen 3200g and using its iGPU.

Some B series motherboards don't support Ryzen CPUs with a G suffix, or don't support Zen+ G suffix CPUs like the 3200G.

I know from my mobo's box that the MSI B550 MEG Unify specifically doesn't support the 3200G and 3400G, but it doesn't say anything about Zen APUs like the 2200G or 2400G.

Downgrading from a 2600x to a 3200g isnt great though

Are you interested in gaming at all or rendering or do you just need a super cheap gpu to give you a display output

So for the PSU, its part of a prebuilt Dell computer, so it only has the wiring for what it needed, and there was no graphics card, so I cant plug a graphics card in...lol. Also this rig is not for gaming, I got my personal rig for that. I just atm have no output, a super cheap gpu for display output would work, I just don't want to somehow bottleneck the cpu...idk if that's a concern in this case though.

Jesus they made that unnecessarily complicated. Ryzen 3 3200G doesn't work in B550, but a 3100 does.... Yeah that makes complete sense, AMD!

You aren't going to find a $100 GPU unless it's so ancient it can't run anything semi modern at higher than 30 FPS.  I mean you can buy a used 2 GB Ati (AMD) 5870 on ebay or an Nvidia GTX 480 for less than $100 on ebay.  Good luck with its performance though.

Doesn't need to run games, just needs display output.
