Dyson Sphere Program - Power Lasers

loving the game, but quick question:
So i get the idea of the sphere getting energy from a star. Then you've got the idea of beaming the power back in a laser. Is this a real proposed thing with theoretical or real science on the process or is this pure sci fi?
If it is real, what kind of efficiency are we talking with that transmission?

At our current technological level we are not yet even a type 1 on the Kardashev scale. (Type 1 can harness the entire energy of the planet they live on).

How on Earth did this end up in PC Gaming? In any case it's mostly a SciFi thought experiment. It's theoretically possible, but far far far beyond our current capabilities.
