Hey, I have the following kit from HyperX https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX432C18FWK2_32.pdf, thing is this kit is no longer in production, when I got this kit 3 years ago I thought I'll add a second kit later on but because it's no longer in production I either have to get an entire 4x16GB kit or try to mix this one.
I tried asking Kingston if their new kit https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX432C16FB4K2_32.pdf will be able to work with the old one since it seems all that's changed is the better timings they said:

The Module HX432C18FWK2/32 used PnP for overclocking, and we no longer use PnP for Fury modules at 3200MHz.
So in this case there is no alternative we can provide.
There is no guarantee that the overclocking will work when using different modules with the HX432C18FWK2/32.
So we would suggest you to replace the modules if you want to increase the capacity and keep the frequency to 3200MHz.

Other than the PnP thing the only difference is CL16 timings instead of CL18.
Has anyone tried to mix PnP RAM with newer RAM?
Should this even be an issue?

It's rough.

One kit is rated 2933mhz CL 17-19-19 1.2v

The other is rated 3000mhz CL16 -19-19 1.35v

(XMP Profile #2 both ^^)

So you will have to over-volt the HX432C18FWK2/32 kit so the HX432C16FB4K2/32 kit can run near it's XMP rated frequency.

Generally this is not an issue, the FWK kit is the better of the two imo, but a long shot from just being a fast kit.

Set the up first try at 2933mhz CL 17-19-19 1.35v Manually input XMP on auto or default, not enabled. If they post up and test stable, then try the CL at 16 and do some more testing. If it's good, run them that way.

However there is also a chance the board won't even post with the mixed memory and may even be unstable at defaults. Any changes you make adding or removing sticks, clear the cmos each time.

GL.
