Oof. With your budget you can put something together with a combination of new and used parts, but the performance will be lower than you want and the form factor will be different.

im in the us and im looking to build a new gaming computer. I want a powerful rig so my games dont look like they were made in ms paint, yet im trying to be realistic in my goals as i am on a very tight budget. I plan on playing games like M&B Bannerlord, which involves a ton of ai in big scale battles. I plan on playing vr games such as Half Life Alyx. I may do a little of modeling but its not a main concern. I am currently upgrading from a computer built around 2013-2014, cant remember.

I want to play at 1080p as i am fine with that, although hopefully capable of 1440p, as i might get a 1440p monitor someday. I would really like to make my new pc small, close to console size(i know its possible, just dont know where to look).Cooling isn't an issue as i have a fan/water-cooling hybrid cooling system in my pc that i can use.I dont need a case as i will build one myself. My budget is 800 USD, although i am willing to stretch the budget slightly *edit: my specs are an AMD A 10-5800k APU, one functioning 4gb ram stick, and a rt 550, and an old derelict dying motherboard.(keep in mind that the computer has been neglected and so dusty, that I can't clean all of it, and to the point of breaking one of the 2 ram slots.)

     many thanks, Blank user

My budget is 800 USD,

1. What are your current specs? If ok, you may want to hold off for a bit or save up more money over time.

2. Right now building it for 800 USD may be hard for what your asking

3. Welcome to the forum.

Your budget isn't in line with what you're wanting. $800 is bordering on a budget build. As with all things tech, it's "small, powerful, and cheap: pick two." Mini ITX boards, cases, and PSUs (SFX) are all more costly than their bigger, bulkier counterparts. You'd be hard pressed to do an ITX build for under $1600, i.e. twice your current budget.

The real killer for you right now is the GPU. Even 2-3 generation old cards are going for $400-500 *used* right now. There's not enough left in your budget for the rest of the components you need for a full system.

For your budget, I'd get a 10700K or 10900K and an mATX board and case (compact mid tower), and use the integrated graphics (as suck as that is) until GPU prices come down or you can snag something at MSRP in a retail drop. The build will be more expensive than your budget in total, but it would be spread out (letting you save up in between) and at least you'd have good, quality components at the end.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D · Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S Chromax.black · Motherboard: Gigabyte Auros X670 Elite AX · RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL30 · Graphics Card: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super Twin Edge OC 12GB · Boot Drive: 1TB XPG Gammix S70 Blade NVMe SSD · Game Drive: 2TB WD SN850X NVMe SSD · PSU: Seasonic Focus GX V3 1000W 80+ Gold · Case: Fractal Design North Mesh · Monitor: MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34” UWQHD 3440x1440 144Hz · Keyboard: EPOMAKER x Aula F99 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard · Mouse: Logitech G309 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse

Thanks, I will think about that
