Hey all!

I have a blower style gtx 970, its pretty dirty and I can see that most of the thick dust bunnies are stuck in the heatsink in between the fan and exhaust.

If I held the fan, or kept it in place (so it doesn't overspin), could I force that pressure of air in through the heatsink and push it all out?

As far as I'm aware its just air going through the fan and heatsink out the exhaust.

I've used compressed air before, it either runs out very quickly, doesn't have enough pressure or just straight up spits out some liquid or gets too cold.

And risks to this?

Thanks :)

I only have leaf blower as my "touchless" PC cleaning solution, and i have to say that its pretty bad for heavier dust bunnies. But for a more finer dust and dust bunnies that doesn't cling on the surface very hard, it works. So far there is no issue for me ( cleaned both of my existing computer with it)

You can take the shroud off and remove the fan from it to clean it out. Honestly, with a 970 blower, its probably 5+ years old and likely needs a repaste anyways.

Honestly that method is just too scary for me and falls under "if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality. I'm not having any heating issues, just want to give it a nice clean and I'm a bit of a clean freak. If I couldn't use that card at all or was overheating then I would resort to that as a last solution. Temps are good. Get around 36c on idle and im upstairs.
