2. the 4790k is still an absolute beast today. While the 1060ti is one of the best bang for buck GPU for 1080p gaming, the 970 is actually more powerful. build 2 is all in all more powerful at a lower price

Oh really? Very benchmark site and video I have found shows the 1060ti performing slightly better?

unless you need the wifi go with the second build. Should be a bit faster and is $50 less

geometry is hard

What makes the 1060 6gb worse than the 970? All the benchmarks and videos I’ve seen comparing the two show the 1060 as slightly better?

they are about the same, the inclusion of the better CPU also helps. You can also OC it if it has a z series mobo

build 2 still the gpu's are very close and the lack of ssd will drive you crazy after awhile. The only down side I see is the reduced vram on the 970 will mean that you can't set textures to maximum in some games, probaly not an issue for 1080p.

True, true. The 5400 rpm hdd would be quite slow. For these days.
I do understand that the max I will be doing is 1080p. That’s all I’m going for. Just looking for best price and performance. I will likely need to get a new cpu fan for the #2 build. Looking at the cryorig h7 and found a used one for about $40.
