No, displayport cables are backwards compatible.

it's backwards compatible, meaning yes it'll work

and it'll run at DP1.2 speed

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

DP has all the same Pinout. A 1.4 cable is guaranteed to be able to run at 1.4 speeds, but can run on any dp port

I could use some help with this!
