R9 280X Minecraft Shaders low performance

Curesto

Hi, i just wanted to do some nostalgia by playing Minecraft after couple of years but with shaders.

But, what i see the performance is too low and GPU usage is too low as well as the CPU.

Shaders: Sildurs Shaders High

Specs:

CPU: Intel Xeon X5450 3.00GHz

MB: Asus ROG Commando

GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Tri-X OC 3GB GDDR5 384-Bit

RAM: Kingston 6GB DDR2 800MHZ CL6

HDD: Samsung HD155UI 1.5 TB 5400 RPM

PSU: Gigabyte P650B 650W 80+ Bronze

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit 20H2

Here's the screenshots:

Well shaders is very badly optimized. You can have 2 setups with the exact same specs, but they will still probably performe VERY differently. Im not suprised your GPU can only do 30FPS with shaders on. And as i said, the low usage % is because of its bad optimization.

Could be the ram, its only 800mhz and minecraft is really ram heavy game. Also the shaders aren't well optimized, but I'd say that ram is most likely too slow and 6gb ddr2 800mhz is really not enough, these days 8gb 3200mhz is barley enough for modern titles.

Edit: not sure how much this impacts the system, but a better and more ram would be great for you, the ram you have is 800mhz 6cl which is 800/6~133 (speed) and modern ram like 3200mhz cl16 is 3200/16=200 (speed) Which is a pretty big differance, also a dual channel memory would be even faster as it can do 2 calculations at a time instead of one.

Also the shader optimization is terrible, I had a r3 3200g and an rx 590 and I got 40-50fps with shaders, which for this config is really too low, once I upgraded to r5 3600 I instantly got 80-120fps, as to say, your system could be just aging, I'm possibly wrong, as I don't know shit about intel xeons, what I do know is minecraft is more cpu/ram heavy rather than gpu, as my integrated graphics on r3 3200g could run shaders not as well obviosly, but some light shaders it could easly do 30-50fps, so take that in considaration as well.

Thanks for the answer. I'm suprised for this peformance with this GPU.

Could be RAM, as it's only component that has high usage at the game. I've also only allocated 2GBs of RAM to the game.

It's really annoying to unable to reach even 60 FPS with an GPU like R9 280X.
