I got a 5600X and it runs max 50 °C when at 100% load using PBO2 with curve optimizer set to -30. It boosts max to 4.6GHz as per stock specs. Now, I would be fine even if the CPU reached max 65-70 °C under full load, so I think I could gain a bit extra performance, but I never OCed on AMD so I don't know how to increase the max boost frequency.

Well what software are you using to measure the temps? For the most part, unless its HWinfo64, download that and try it again. Also, you tried measuring the temps while it was under full load, not say, just after It finished a full-load benchmark, correct? Finally, what cooler are you using? Stock?

I am NOT a professional and a lot of the time what I'm saying is based on limited knowledge and experience. I'm going to be incorrect at times.

I'm using HWinfo64 with a NH-D15. I must raise the clock to increase the temps, but not sure how to do dynamic OC with AMD, since I just want to increase the max boost while also keeping the current undervoltage from PBO2.

I'm kinda regretting not getting the 5800X for just 60€ more now, since I was worried about the temps showed online reaching 80-90 °C in benchmarks even when cooled by a Kraken 360mm, but probably could run it within 70 °C at max load. 😕

Yeah, the D15 is way overkill for that CPU. I'd just look up an oc guide on the interwebs and try to push your CPU. And the 5800x was 60 euros more? Only? Wow, you either found a great price for the 5800x or a bad price for your 5600x. The 5800x does run somewhat hot, but you might not need it depending on what you're doing.

I'd say worse price for 5600X and better one for 5800X. 5600X paid 355€ (compared to 300€ MSRP) and the 5800X was 415€ (compared to 450€ MSRP). This is mostly due to the way easier availability of the 5800X. Honestly I didn't like what I saw on online reviews, even on LTT review you could see the 5800X running 10 °C hotter than 5900X, and that's unacceptable for me. AMD can keep claiming on their subreddit that it's ok and it runs within specs, but it still sucks having a mid-range CPU running hotter than a top tier CPU, so I prefer to upgrade to a 5900X later on if I want, or just jump to the next socket. 5600X vs 5950X is basically same thing in single thread, just matters in multithread. The only multithread thing I do is Premiere Pro from time to time and some 3D rendering as a hobby, but I would have prefered the 5900X.
