Hello all, first time posting so if I need to change anything please let me know!

I have a new-ish build that has been giving me some headaches and I could really use a hand in troubleshooting things.

Problem: Spikes in temperature, low CPU/GPU usage but visual tearing and stuttering, select games failing to launch

Specs

B550M Mortar

Ryzen 7 3700X (Wraith cooler)

RTX 3070 FE

16GB 3600mhz DDR4 Ram

1TB SN870 NVME

4TB WD HDD

512GB 2.5in SSD (Not currently installed)

I am feeling like part of my issue is how my boot drives and file storage locations are setup. I thought it was setup to run my programs and boot drive via the NVME and archive/media on the HDD with the SSD acting as a backup, but it seems to just be duplicating files on all drives and I'm not sure why or how to change this without wiping the drives and losing everything.

I have not configured my BIOS really other than changing the clock speed of my RAM, and I honestly don't really know what I'm doing in the BIOS to be honest. I have installed Afterburner and Rivatuner but it seems to crash some games or just not work intermittently, and I can't really figure out what I'm supposed to use Afterburner for.

Max load on my CPU is around 40% at full load, and the GPU sits around 80-85 C at full load.

Not sure if it's related, but recently I noticed that none of my RGB settings save after startup anymore. Trying to use Mystic Light and the Coolermaster software (for the Wraith cooler) is proving to be more painful the more I try, and now I can't even turn on any RGB across the whole board.

Please let me know if I'm missing details or if you can help!

Are you running PCIe gen 4 or gen 3 speeds? Gen 4 is still working out the bugs with graphics cards. Try switching to gen 3

That, good sir, is a fantastic question. How might I find out/adjust this?

Thanks for your suggestion!

EDIT: I realized I haven't tried this before, and found it in the BIOS. System seems to run smoother now though I still have crashing games. Could be the titles themselves (IE: Rocket League has been well documented) though it's more than just the one game.

The 2 games I can't ;aunch properly are both on EA, the 2003 version of Battlefront II (I can play thorugh the tutorial flawlessly but it won't get me past the first respawn in the campaign before black screen) and Crysis.
