Plan for First build

Go to solution Solved by Downkey,

If you are just gaming go with 16GB. Also you don’t need that motherboard. A decent $100 - $160 B550 would work aswell

Looking to do my first build right now and i have decided on this:

CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor

MotherboardAsus ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

Storage:  Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive

*Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (when i can get one, have one that can stand in atm)

Case: MUSETEX Phantom ATX Mid Tower Case (White)

PSU: Corsair RM (2019) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Just wanted to get feedback and opinions, where i can improve, get the best bang for buck right now, etc.

ps: i am aiming to do a 'relatively' white themed build.

It depends on what you want to do, but if you're just gaming, an i5-10600k with a budget air cooler will come out about the same price as a Ryzen 5 3600x and you'll get a pretty large jump in performance. If you're playing at 1080p or even 1440p using an RTX 3080, you're gonna want that faster CPU.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

If you wanted to squeeze some additional fps for only $100 more, the 5600x is staying in stock for days now.

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory

You would probably get better performance and save money if you so that same model but do 16Gb (2x8) 3600 Mhz CL16 My reasoning is that CL16 is the minimum latency you'll want for a Gaming only rig and while 32 Gb is cool, Every game out right now does not use more than 12Gb of Ram. However, if you need the 32 Gb for other things then this one can be disregarded.

Storage:  Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive

This is a solid drive, but this is PCI Gen 4 and "blow your socks off" fast. This is in my rig and amazing.

Sorry I probably edited my post. Refresh plz. Build Specs Below.

so the 5600x is a better choice than the 3600x? i see higher core clocks on 3600x than 5600x though

i can switch it out

also will take this ssd, just a $10 dif for me
