Jumped the power switch pins with a screwdriver. Reset CMOS and that was like turning on the power switch at the PSU, computer came on like it was going to boot up but shut down after about 2 sec.

In that case it can be anything, you don't get POST screen because some of the components are deffective.

You will hardly get support here, find a good PC technican and he will know what to do...

I suspect it's RAM,and that would be your best bet.

Hey everyone,

I built a new PC and I am in the process of reinstalling Windows and drivers, etc on my old PC with plans on giving it to my son. After taking a break I reached for the power button to turn it on and got one hell of static shock. The PC actually turned on and then off again from it. Now the power button does not work at all but when I turn on the power switch on the back of the PSU the PC powers up for about 2-3 seconds and then shuts off. Motherboard RGB's are on so it is still getting power but I am at a complete loss on how to troubleshoot just exactly what I screwed up.

Aside from just flat out frying the motherboard, could I have fried the tiny circuit board the power switch and USB are connected to? If so is there a way to bypass it to troubleshoot?

Can the PSU be ruled out because the motherboard is powered up?

What a mess.

Try to turn it on via those pins on motherboard, using screwdriver...if you are lucky enough great then, probably smth wronf with your chasis...if you can't turn it on,then the problem is more serious...

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.
