so im pretty upset with the whole mantle not being used very much, or making a big difference when it is being used.  Im considering swapping my 3GB sapphire dual x 280x card for one on the green team. what card over there is comparable?

please dont turn this into a thread arguing over mantle being dead or not, if you want to suggest a card, then you can input on your take on mantle, but I would ideally like to have a card mostly selected by the end of this thread.

Get an EVGA ACX 770 or 780 and sell that one. Why would you though?

GTX 770 for sure :)

Why changing team if you can just Crossfire your GPU.

why not just cross fire 280x's?

well, my thought process is that both teams will provide me with more than adequate framerates in whatever game i play at the moment, but the green cards come with extra benefits, unlike mantle that is just not even being used.  and my thought process for why mantle is dead is that AMD is supporting DX12 now

You'll get DX12 with the 280X.

wont the DX12 be the same across the red and green teams?

Mantle benefits lower end CPUs, not an i7-4770k.

Benchmarks between the 780 Ti and R9 290X, with Mantle used, are the same on a high end CPU like 4960X or 4770k. The 780 Ti is still the better GPU.

Benchmarks between the two flagships on an A10-7850k show the R9 290X winning because the CPU bottlenecks for the 780 Ti, Mantle removed that for the 290X.

You shouldn't have expected better. You won't benefit from Mantle for quite some time, since Mantle is incomplete and the 4770k is still absurdly powerful.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

770's the one for Green, but if you can, pony up for a 780. The power is immense!

You will get similar performance by switching from a 280x to a 770, so don't see the incentive for swapping cards (unless you find someone willing to pay more for the 280x because of the whole mining craze.)

Maxwell cards are also going to be announced likely as early as June, so if anything its better to wait for the architectural changes that will deliver improvements over existing 700 series before making any decision.
