I built a PC into my couch side table

This is the Finished product, the PC is out of sight. Scroll down to see how such a small side table is able to bare the weight of a 34inch ultrawide moniter.

If anyone is wondering WHY I'd do such a thing it's many reasons......... Wife doesn't like me being locked away in the 'man cave' all the time so I'd been gaming on the couch with my ageing, heavy and hot gaming laptop for a year, it was getting uncomfortable and I begrudged the lack of performace and quality of viewing experience even if the laptop was 17inches IPS.

The thought of spending 1.5-2k on another gaming laptop which can't be upgraded made me think outside of the box. It means my wife can watch the awful reality TV shows she loves and I can still grind on Warcraft whilst holding a convosation with her and/or have Netflix on to the side. It's been a complete win win for us both and I got to build my first ever PC which was fucking awesome!

This is what I had to start with. It's my original couch side table which I mocked up in sketchup to start planning.

The blue illustrating what I want welded onto the original table.

The red square represents the foot corner of the couch itself so to make sure everything fits.

Calculating the extension distance I can expect.

Within the underneath of the couch there are wooden beams sitting perpendicular to my steel 'feet' under the couch. The beams sit on the steel. This means the entire weight of the couch is always pressing down on the steel feet. So the monitor can swing out in any direction without the table ever moving.

There is a hdmi cable routed hidden around the room from the TV to the PC so the pc just sees the TV as a 2nd monitor.

The monitor fully tilts & rotates. It also move up an down with just 1 finger

The frame still needs powder coating and the shelve I added for the computer could of been done alot better.

The wires have been recessed underneath the keyboard and routed through to the underneath to connect to a usb hub

The hub and wires on the back also recessed.

Great setup. Love the ingenuity.

I have something similar with a Lazboy.
