i bought this 2080 super from newegg as a refurb, sold by newegg. ive noticed it is performing worse than it should be. it underperforms even to my friends 2070 significantly in the hitman 2 bench, my 2080 averaging high 30s and low 40s depending on the run, settings mostly maxed. ive run userbenchmark and it places between 51 and 38 percentile. the card runs cool, i havent noticed any artifacting or glitching out in casual use or in games, its been a smooth experience beside gaming. it is paired with a r5 2600, 2x8gb 3000mhz ddr4, i know the cpu is probably a bit of a bottleneck but i plan on upgrading that in the near future, and i dont think it should be enough of a bottleneck to explain a 30frame difference in a several year old game, or the placement on userbenchmark. i cannot think of anything that could be causing this, and i dont know what to do about it. is the card bad? the only thing i can think of is a little bit after i got it, i shorted my motherboard with this card still in it, running. yes i know im stupid. everything in the pc including the mobo after i gave it some time to calm down works now, but ever since i have been wondering if that has done damage to anything even tho it all works.

what do yall think

r5 2600

Could very easily be CPU bottlenecking you, try using task manager and see the CPU usage in those games. Then download MSI afterburner and look at GPU usage, I wouldn't be surprised if CPU usage is much higher than GPU usage.

it does hit around low to mid 90s on a couple cores, so you might be right about a cpu bottleneck, i see this thread where a dude with the same combo is hitting 75 at 1440, im only benchmarking at 1080 and low 40s,

oh and gpu core load is somewhere like 30% area, i know it was less than half

Yeah, 100% a CPU thing then, on the bright side, turning up all the graphics quality settings to max shouldn't impact you much!

lmaooooo and that would make sense because even turning down settings did very little.
