Hello,

I created an account here because I have spent hours upon hours searching for a solution to this problem, to no avail.  I have microstutters when gaming.  It doesn't show up in every single game, but I'd say 90% of them it does.  Here's my system specs:

Ryzen 5 2600 3.8 GHZ (not overclocked)

MSI X470 Gaming Plus Motherboard (Running XMP Profile 2 for the RAM, but turning that on or off has no effect on this issue)

Coolermaster 1000W PSU

32 GB Ballistic Sport LT DDR4 RAM

AMD RX580 8GB GPU (not overclocked)

1x 2TB HDD Drive that holds games

1x 120GB SSD (previously used as a backup, now empty)

1x 250GB SSD for the OS

Coolermaster case.  I purchased the original system from a University Surplus.  It was originally used as a server computer for an aerospace engineering dept.  I have since converted it to gaming, only retaining the case and original power supply.

Here is a list of what I've tried.  Frankly I've tried so much that I'm probably forgetting stuff but here goes:

-Tried various different bios settings, overclocking combinations, etc.  No change.

-Disabled HDCP Support in AMD settings.  This caused the microstutter to go away on the desktop but not in games.

-Disassembled entire system, cleaned, reapplied thermal paste to GPU and CPU, reassemble.  Temps have never been a problem for me but I figured I'd try it.  Gaming I rarely get above 60C on the GPU, 50C on the CPU playing the most graphics intensive game I have.

-Tried adjusting just about every setting in the AMD settings.

-Tried various voltage adjustments for...everything...

-Reinstalled GPU drivers using DDU

-Disabled windows game mode and every feature that has to do w/ gaming

-Set power plan to high performance and tweaked to disable sleep

-Set GPU max power to +50% in AMD settings

-A crap load of other stuff

I bought a freesync monitor about a month ago, and it didn't help.  Before you can suggest it--no, reinstalling windows does not fix the problem.  I am about 85% sure it's a GPU issue as I've experienced it since I purchased the GPU in 2018, new.  It has been in two completely different systems and been through at least 5 Windows reinstalls.  Stuttering in games has never gone away.  I'm at my wits end trying to fix this.  The only thing I can see in any sort of hardware monitor is that my GPU usage is sometimes all over the place, bouncing between 0 and 100%.  However, my CPU and RAM usage never hit 100%, so I doubt its a throttling issue, and my temps have never been a problem...

Please help!  If there's anything more I can provide please comment and I'll get it up as soon as I can.
