Minecraft RAM allocation commands missing (JAVA version)

Sriyashas

I looked up how to allocate RAM as my game was stuttering with all 4GB allocated being used up, but when I got to the installation options in the launcher, the "-Xmx..." JVM was missing.

Not sure if this should go here or in PC gaming section

Gaming, I guess, since this isn't really a programming related question.

I'm not familiar with the installation options, but "-Xmx" is something you specify when launching the game (through Java), so can't you just add it on the command line or the desktop shortcut?

If it's stuttering with 4GB RAM allocated, it's might be likely that you're either using tons of mods and could try to deactivate some of them or your hardware isn't up to par.

However, it is possible to change it in the MC launcher, stackexchange has the answer

Remember that you need the 64-bit version of Java to use more than 4gb of RAM.
