Hi,

I'm having issue with scroll wheel. Sometimes my mouse doesn't detect the movement of the scroll wheel, some times it detects, but went to the opposite direction, and sometimes it just works (and those happens when I swipe down my scroll wheel continuously). I wonder has anyone attempt to fix the issue? I mean, will WD4D spray or alcohol contact cleaner spray able to clean the contact of the wheel sensor?

Note: The mouse is a bit expensive, albeit it was 3 years old. I don't plan to change my mouse just yet because I grew accustomed to the mouse, as it was a fully customisable mouse (from DPI to 5 macro buttons).

Regards,

Chiyawa

If its just dirt on the sensor don't use WD40 it will clean it but leave a oily residue that will cause you latter issues. Best way is to use contact spray, something like this https://www.amazon.com/Company-300554-Specialist-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B084VP9JJK, We use it in the switch production industries so i know its safe for this type of components.

There are several ways the mouse wheel could be designed.  If it’s an optical sensor it sounds like you might have a hair or something in it. Might need the make and model.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I see. Well, I think this is a wheel type one like many cheap mouse has. I haven't open my mouse yet, so I can't be sure. (That mouse cost about USD25 only. I know to many that was dirt cheap, but for me, It's my 1 day salary)

I see. It looks like an alcohol spray. I have Kontakt WL spray, so I wonder if it is the same as what you have suggested. http://www.kontaktchemie.com/KOC/KOCproductdetail.csp?product=KONTAKT WL

It is just a different brand, i even believe that in production of cherry switches (not keyboard switches) we use the exact one that you have linked.
