OC'ing and Downclocking?

Ah..okay. I thought it would just set that as the max voltage, but it would still be able to downclock.聽

I tried reading how to set an adaptive or offset voltage, but I feel like I am doing it wrong still and there's something I'm not understanding.聽

Would you mind clarifying a little?

I know you can do a +/- offset/adaptive, but where am I setting the actual voltage for it to not go insanely high? I'm confused on to what I should be setting the offset/adaptive to.

You have to set SVID behavior and go from there, if you use offset/adaptive聽馃檪聽Adaptive is SVID + additional turbo voltage. I would just use offset. You can set CPU load line calibration accordingly聽

Hey everyone!

Was hoping someone could help me out. I recently have a new build (Well, everything except the GPUs) and had a couple questions.

I have an Asus Z590 Strix-E with a I9-10900KF and 32GB DDR4 4000Mhz.

So far everything has been fantastic. Ram is running at full speeds and I am currently sitting at an overclock of 5.0 with a manual voltage of 1.315

Only problem so far is that on idle/desktop, my CPU is running at a full 5000Mhz, even though usage is <10%. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get it to downclock. It's not my Power Plan interfering and SpeedStep is enabled. I know it's not a huge issue, but it's something that bugs me lol. Though idle, I'm sitting around 35C-40C.聽

I'm not exactly a pro with overclocking, so hopefully what I have done so far is "good". I still need to research and see what temps/voltages are safe, but so far so good on this OC I have.

Any helps or tips are appreciated, thank you so much in advance!

Its because you are running manual voltage. Have to run offset or adaptive for that. 馃檪
