I know it's kinda weird to come here for seeking for some sort of closure. I've relied of the linustechtip forums before for something similar and it helped make me feel better. Many of you probably don't know, and probably don't care, I am a competitive swimmer. I have been doing competitive swimming for about 3 years. In those 3 years I have honed skills that I have never thought I could ever achieve. It makes me feel proud, and strong. I am confident with my abilities. That is why I believed I qualified to be a lifeguard during summer. I mean what's wrong with making a little money during summer with something I loved doing so much? What could possible go wrong. I know what was on the test and I was confident I could do it. I was shattered to find out that I have failed the qualification test for the course of becoming a life guard. What happened was something utterly stupid. I could do the task that was given upon me. It should have been easy. I choked. I couldn't do it. No matter how hard I tried I could not surface dive down a 10ft pool to pick up that 10lb brick. That one choke has now affected my plans during summer. I am extremely disappointed. Failing in something I knew I could do. I don't really get picked on it, and even if I did I really don't care. My friends would often, just to tease me, bring up the word brick some how.

I failed that test also, for the same reason.

2 weeks ago I went to the pool and gave it a shot, got it first time

Think about it this way man, maybe you just need some time to develop as a person... that brick could have been someones life. Just see where this experience takes you and move on from there.

Yea, it seems that whenever you care about a job enough to do it you end up doing worse than someone who is only doing it for the money... Its an odd thing.

if you can successfully complete a similar situation with a 20 pound load, you should breeze by the test in the second try.

I can't reapply because the course already started. I can no longer take part in getting certified in time for summer.

As much as I love tech, I don't think it's something I could do during summer. Because it is hard to find or make work in that field.

Yeah, you might like to work at Staples, you get to touch all the stuff and you don't get yelled at! It was my 2nd favorite job.

I think they do, I'm 15 but my friend's dad is the manager so I think I got lucky.

I guess? I got encouraged to work out a lot more since I started swimming. Before I did swim I was a scrawny 90 pound boys playing games all day long.
