Hey everyone,

I built my first PC and immediately ran into a problem.

I animate for a YouTube channel and the videos can get pretty big (decent amount of VFX), so I decided to upgrade from my previous rig to better support my workload, specs for my new PC below:

CPU: Ryzen Threadripper 2950x 16 Core

Motherboard: ASRock x399 Taichi

Ram: 32GB 3200mhz

GPU: GTX 1660 Super

Storage: Two 1TB M.2 SSD's + 1 External HDD

PSU: 850W

In attempts to render in After Effects, Media Encoder and Premier, I was getting better render speeds on my old Ryzen 5 3600. The renders estimated completion endlessly shoots up to 50hrs+. I've done equally complex videos on a weaker build and got better performance, kinda tearing my hair out at this point since deadlines are coming up. I've tried overclocking but to no effect, tweaking which codec I export, etc... Feels like I've tried everything. I even used programs like Renderboss and Render Garden and got a small boost from it.

I've tested UserBench and Cinebench and got good scores, but when it comes time to render a video I get nowhere.

Anyone have any idea why my PC renders so slow?

Yeah, try changing it to use hardware acceleration and see if that helps.
